A rest and re-group day today, in fact didn't leave the house. I only got 2 hours sleep the night before so was only firing on one cylinder and the weather was pretty ordinary.
Main activity for the day was lunch and we had a guest - Chris and Dad's old friend John Woodcraft.
And a funny lunch story - Chris had made a fish pie for the occasion as it is one of Dad's favourites and therefore keenly anticipated.
I spent quite a while rifling through the 8 drawers of Chris's not insubstantial freezer trying to locate said pie. It took 2 complete sweeps before the pie was located buried under other stuff and extracted for defrosting. All going to plan 😀
30 minutes before lunch the pie goes in the oven and 30 minutes later it is extracted for serving. I was doing the serving and thought the potato topping was looking a tad thin! Main reason being it wasn't potato and it wasn't a fish pie. Oh lordy no - it was a lasagne.
Chris and I just looked at each other and there was a brief moment as it sunk in. The build up and anticipation for this pie had been high to begin with and had reached epic proportions as lunch arrived. This may be getting lost in translation, but it was funny! Chris and I had a good snicker about it at the time, but Chris later revealed it was touch and go for her between laughing and crying.
After lunch I had a massive nap (making up for last night) and as I didn't venture out I had no pictures - which makes for a pretty dull blog post, so here's a sneaky (and very dark) one of me in my new jimmy jams 😀
