Lucca

Lucca is about one hour drive east of Florence.   It is a quiet, flat town with an old medieval part that is walled.  Lucca is a great place to cycle and that’s exactly what we did.

Emmy got off to a wobbly start, both literally and figuratively.  She was a bit light on with the brakes at the end of the ride and ended up using Daniel as her human air bag before splatting onto the ground.  Needless to say Daniel was not impressed.  Emily is a little sensitive about her wobbly bike riding and the accompanying wobblies she chucked.  I’m not supposed to be writing about it, so when you next see Miss Em Mum’s the word.

We spent an hour on the bikes, which gave us just enough time to ride along the wall surrounding the town plus take a few small detours through the streets.  Much to the boys disgust we didn’t go for a second hour and along with many complaints and whines continued to tackle the streets on foot.  Among the sights we saw were a ridiculously small postal van and a brilliant street show, complete with very clever cello playing puppet.

This window display caught my eye, mainly because of the pasta bicycles suspended in front of the salamis….

And then this little pooch just had to have his picture taken...

But this was the piece de resistance.  She was fast and I nearly didn’t catch her…
