Our first real day of rain, no sprinkles that freshened everything up, nope - this was full on - get out your wee plastic ponchos - rain. Nagano is built up around Zenko-ji, an ancient zen temple that towers over the city. So after snacks we marched on...
with a brief POP (put on ponchos) stop....
The temple was lovely, but the rain was heavy and we pretty much dashed from one covered area to another....
and then it was back to the train
with more snacks...
Our accommodation in Tokyo is about 300m from Ikebukuro station on the Yamanote Line. It was nice and big EXCEPT for the bathroom and the toilet that very annoyingly didn't have a lid.
Dinner was udon for Emily and Steve and rice bowls for Daniel and I....
